Peacekeeping
is defined by the United Nations is “"a way to help countries torn by conflict and create conditions for sustainable peace.". Peacekeepers monitor and observe conditions in countries and areas that had recently been involved in conflict, and make sure that peace is kept in that area. Peacekeeping is usually done by traditional methods of peacekeeping such as negotiation and mediation, or it is also done by more forceful action. “UN peacekeeping continues to evolve, both conceptually and operationally, to meet new challenges and political realities”
Conflict prevention is mostly considered as a wide range of policies and initiatives, which aim to avoid any violent dispute. This also includes monitoring and intervening to stabilize a potentially violent conflict before an outbreak by acting to address the root causes of the dispute. It’s aimed to establishing mechanisms that detect early warning signs that may help to predict impending violence and also it is the process of using planned coordination to prevent the creation of conflict when delivering humanitarian aid and in the process of development. Basically, Conflict Prevention is the method of institutionalizing the idea of preventing conflict at the local, regional, and international levels.
Combating Terrorism Before one can define combating terrorism, one needs to know what terrorism is. Terrorism is very complicated to define because of the different opinions on what is classified as terrorism, and many refer to terms, such as bombers or militants. However, the FBI defines terrorism as “the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a Government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.” Because of the difficulty to define terrorism, anti terrorism or combating terrorism is also complex to define. However, a common agreement for the definition is the governments, people and military's plan of action to halt terrorist attacks, threats or acts of terrorism.
